Tournament Raises Awareness for Connective Tissue Disorders

People gathered Saturday with temperatures in the mid-40s on the melting surface of Wall Lake for a fishing derby for children.

The event, called the Dan Antrim/Seth Reich Memorial Kids Ice Fishing Tournament, was held to remember two men who died from connective tissue disorders. Antrim died in April 2016 at the age of 47 from Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and Reich in May 2008 at 24 from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

The event was free. Organizers said 35 children attended. Prizes were handed out for first fish, most variety of fish, largest fish and most pounds of walleye.
